Large Nacelles

Aircelle has a major presence on airliners with seating capacities of 100 seats and more, providing engine nacelle packages for Airbus and Boeing aircraft in service with airlines around the world.

From the 100-seat Airbus A318 to Boeing 747s and A380s capable of carrying 400-550 passengers, Aircelle is a supplier of choice and a long-term industrial partner.

Engine nacelle expertise

Aircelle’s extensive nacelle capabilities are underscored by the company’s role as the sole nacelle systems integrator for the 525-seat Airbus A380 jetliner. The A380 nacelle is one of the largest ever developed for a commercial aircraft, and Aircelle handles this program at a dedicated "podding" facility in Toulouse, France - where the A380 is assembled.

Aircelle is responsible for the nacelles on both 70,000-80,000-lb. thrust-category powerplants that equip the A380: Rolls-Royce’s Trent 900, and the Engine Alliance GP7200 (from the General Electric/Pratt & Whitney joint venture).

The A380 program is a major industrial effort for Aircelle, as the company provides four different nacelles for this 21st century flagship aircraft. The Trent 900 and GP7200 each use a specific nacelle version for the A380’s inboard engines (which are fitted with the thrust reverser), while another configuration is supplied for each powerplant in the outboard position (which do not have a reverser).
